Leverkusen, 17 May 2021. In April 2021, the Spanish sister company of DEKOTEC celebrated its 50th anniversary of operations in Spain. An occasion to look back and into the future. Which factors were instrumental for the Spanish branch and which are still decisive for the company’s development? The cornerstones of the branch’s success are the same today as they were 50 years ago: flexibility, service orientation and quality assurance. Since its foundation in 1971, the Spanish branch has developed dynamically with the changing markets, consistently expanded its product portfolio and created individual solutions for its customers.

The Spanish company was founded on April 14th in 1971, just in time for the construction of the Spanish gas distribution network. The then newly launched BUTYLEN-Tapes, the world’s first co-extruded three-ply PE/Butyl-tapes, reliably protect the seam welded joints of gas pipes in supra-regional networks and private households from corrosion. With the completion of the network expansion, the Spanish branch started the 21st century by gaining a foothold with an expanded range of products in road construction. The TOK® product range brings quality to Spanish roads. Whereas up to now, in Spain it was mainly new construction instead of renovation, the advantages of implementing Europe-wide tested and proven systems and efficient repairs are evident.
In the 2010s, despite the Spanish economic crisis, the company is aiming for the growth markets of Latin America. With its international sales partners, the business is expanding and will start supplying the South American continent from Spain in the following years. “I am very pleased with the positive development of our Spanish subsidiary. With its successful growth from Spain to the Latin American markets, it is contributing to the internationalisation of our leading group,” says Max Wedekind, Managing Director of DEKOTEC GmbH.
